8 of MTL’s Best Chinese Restaurants For An Authentic Experience

Who doesn’t love chinese food? St?phanie, but it doesn’t count because I don’t think there are any Chinese restaurants in Terrebonne so why would she. In any case, Chinese food is great. We’re lucky that in MTL there are lots of amazing Chinese options for to eat. Here are our favorite places for potstickers, General Tao chicken and cream of sum yung guy (LOL gotta love Wayne’s World).

8. Tiki Ming
1, Place Ville-Marie

If you’re like us before we became our own bosses, you work in a call center. That means you don’t have a lot of time for lunch – thankfully, the Place Ville Marie has a food court and in its food court it has a terrific Chinese restaurant in the form of Tiki Ming. Get the Shanghai noodles and grab some chopsticks for an authentic Chinese experience.

7. Kim Hour
7734, Saint Michel

This restaurant is a little far from the center hub of Montreal but it’s got some amazing top-notch food if you ever find yourself in that neighborhood.

6. Kanda Sushi
2045, Bishop

There are many Kanda sushis but this is the original all-you-can-eat MTL sushi joint. Bonus points in that it is very close to Concordia. Traditional Chinese sushis at a low low price! (Fun fact: there’s one of these restaurants in Rosemere, which is kind of close to Terbonne based on the quick Google mapping we just did. Go there and maybe you’ll see St?phanie’s parents!)

5. La Mison Egg Roll
3741, Wellington

Again, this is not a neighborhood that we particularly frequent since we prefer the PMR and D-Town but Chad’s been known to hit up the Verdungeon in search of some funky herbs and he told us about this place. What’s more authentically Chinese than egg rolls? Apparently René Levesque (a politician named after the street) really loved this place. Who knew even a politicians hung out in Verdump in da daze?!

4. La Centre Des Mets Chinoise de Montreal
961, Mount Royal

Boy, what a mouthful, huh? Situated in the rustic heart of the PMR in front of a gas station and next to an American Apparel, this authentic Chinese joint (the name translates to Montreal Center For Performing Chinese Food) has killer chow mein and a bottle of soy sauce on every table. Konitchewa!

3. Tiki Ming
1500, Atwater

As we mentioned above, there are many terrific Tiki MING locations scattered around the city, but this one has that jeune c’est quoi that we can’t put our finger on. It has been said that New York City pizza is better because of the water – maybe that is the secret of Tiki Ming Alexis Nihon: best water?

2. Pho Nguyen
1452, Saint Matheiu

Nguyen is a traditional chinese broth soup with noodles and vegetables; you can find it all across the city but this is the first one that popped into Google so it must be the best. It is cheap, warm, excellent and most of all CHEAP! (Fun fact: there are no pictures of this place on the Internet apparently)

1. Peanut Butter Noodle Guy
Somewhere on St-Laurent, who gives a shit

To us this is the most authentically Schijuan cuisine related experience in MTL: go to Biftek, get hammered, grab a hottie, feel that need, quench that desire, eat some noodles slathered in peanut butter off a paper plate in the back of the cab or sitting on the curb while your hottie puts their head between their knees. The second that shit hits your mouth you’d swear you’re in Tokyo. The only problem is you have to stumble upon the man like a leprechaun – we have never been north of Pine sober.
